I was able to see a lot of turmoil, tragedy and failed existence. Marsha Norman's play captures isolation as a central part of an individual's life. To me, Mama and Jessie brought out characters that are present in our current societies. We fail to accept the troubles and challenges we are undergoing until it's too late. The psychological identities of the two primary characters in the play were vital towards understanding Norman's intent (Blooeyz2001, 1987). She wanted to steer forth the fact that individuals have different perceptions in their day to day lives.
